Marco Beach Ocean Resort

Set on the beach overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, this upscale all-suite hotel is a 5-minute walk from boutique shopping at Marco Walk Plaza.

Refined, traditional suites with balconies or patios offer full kitchens, free Wi-Fi, iPod docks and flat-screen TVs. Many rooms have gulf views.

There’s food and beverage service on the beach, plus complimentary towels and lounge chairs with umbrellas. The rooftop pool has a bar and grill that offers free smoothies each afternoon. Set in tropical gardens overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, this upscale resort is an 18.3-mile drive from Estero Island and 13.3 miles from Lovers Key State Park’s beaches.

Modern rooms feature balconies, coffeemakers and minifridges, plus flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi (with a resort fee). Upgraded rooms add gulf views or access to a lounge serving free breakfast and snacks. Suites offer living rooms and kitchens.

Fisher Island Resort – Miami

Part of the onetime estate of William Vanderbilt, these Mediterranean-style cottages, villas and suites are on a private island in Biscayne Bay.

The cottages and villas, dating from the 1920s, are near the historic Vanderbilt Mansion and offer private courtyards with in-ground hot tubs. Suites with limestone floors are in a guesthouse. All lodging includes personal golf carts.

On the Miami River, this modern downtown hotel in a high-rise building is 2 miles from the Port of Miami, and 13 minutes’ walk from shops and restaurants at the lively Bayside Marketplace.

Chic rooms include yoga mats, iPod docks and Wi-Fi, plus Italian linens, balconies, and bathrooms with rainfall showers and soaking tubs; many have ocean views. Club-level rooms have access to a lounge with food service. Room service is offered.
